Well, it happened. I shot my first COVID-19 backyard wedding, and honestly, it was FANTASTIC. Josh and Carrie made the decision that they didn't feel comfortable having a large scale wedding with the rising number of Coronavirus cases, so instead they chose to have an intimate, back yard wedding with their immediate families. Admittedly, I didn't know what to expect, but it really was beautiful. Nothing was going to stop Josh and Carrie from celebrating their love for each other with their families. Carrie's dad officiated the wedding, and because her grandfather couldn't be there, he recorded a reading and they played it over a speaker. There wasn't a dry eye in the back yard after that! Josh planted a big ole' kiss on Carrie and it was time to party! The vegan food looked absolutely delicious (and I'm not even vegan)! We did some portraits at a near by park, and it was hot as can be! But the stress of the day was over and it was time to relax and have some fun! Carrie's sister and brother in law gave the toast and it was full of memories, laughs, and congratulations. As I packed up my bags to wrap up the day, I couldn't help but smile. The wedding went off without a hitch. The emotion and feeling of being a part of such an intimate and special day made me so happy. I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate a couples love during such difficult time than to be surrounded by the people you love most.
