My Favorite Cleveland Wedding Photo Locations - 2021 Edition
Cleveland Museum of Art
Are you looking for a timeless, classic look for your wedding photos? Then look no further than the Cleveland Museum of Art. CMA is a great spot for wedding photos because the front of the building features beautiful stone stairs, pillars, landscaping and plenty of options for variety. At the same time, CMA doesn’t charge a location fee for taking photos outside or indoors, which makes it a great option for a bad weather plan B! I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that due to CMA not requiring a location fee, it is typically a very popular wedding day photo location. So if you happen to have your wedding on a popular date, it’s very likely you may have to wait or dodge other wedding parties.
Voinovich Park
Voinovich Park is a great one stop location that will allow you to get fun wedding party photos with a Cleveland sign, in a park and by the water if you’d like. If you’re having a ceremony that’s later in the day, this is a great location as the sun starts to set! It makes for romantic couples photos and is only a short drive from most downtown reception venues. Parking can sometimes be an issue at Voinovich park during busy weekends as it’s close to the Rock Hall and several popular restaurants and the Goodtime III.
Coe Lake
For any of you having a wedding on the lower East side of Cleveland, Coe Lake offers lots of variety and is extremely spacious, so even if the park is busy you’ll have plenty of options for photo locations. This past year when I was there was also during prom season. There were probably 40+ young couples and their families walking around the park at the same time as us and we were still able to get great photos with very few issues!
The Flats
Another popular Cleveland wedding photo location is the Flats. Usually, you’ll find couples getting married at Music Box and Windows walking around the Flats, but it can also be a great stop for couples traveling from churches downtown to other reception venues. A perk of taking photos in the flats is that even if the location you were hoping to take photos at is occupied, there are plenty of other places to get great photos with the skyline and river as the background.
Public Square
If you’re getting ready at a hotel downtown Cleveland, consider taking couples photos or doing a first look at Public Square. Depending on the time of day it can be pretty busy, but if you pop down mid morning or early afternoon for a few photos, you can usually dodge the foot traffic pretty easily.
Ohio City
Ohio City is a favorite location of mine because it offers so much variety in just a few block radius. It’s a fun take on the traditional downtown photos with all the murals, greenery and industrial backgrounds. This is another location where foot traffic can present a challenge, especially later in the day on Saturdays, but getting creative with where your photos are taken in the area can make the foot traffic seem minimal.
